Where Winds Meet has a full PvP side: seven Arena modes, a ranked season and weekend Guild Wars. This page explains what each mode is, how to get started and where the current season stands. Official details come from the game's announcements, with their dates; where only a guide site says something, we name it. We have not played these modes ourselves. Our PvP builds and tier lists are collected on the Where Winds Meet PvP page.

Last checked: October 11, 2026. The opening hours and battlegroup rules come from the official April 30, 2026 update overview, which itself says the in-game schedule panel has the final word, so check it if a time below looks off.

How to get started

  1. Unlock the Arena. Game8 and BlueStacks both say it opens at level 22. Open Wandering Paths and choose Arena; the official notes place Arena Practice, Training Terrace and Transdust Ruins in that menu.
  2. Warm up in Arena Practice. The official notes of January 12, 2026 added it for practicing blocks, defense breaks and golden skills.
  3. Play 1v1 Arena. It is open around the clock, according to the April 30 update overview. Game8 says you fight with your own gear and progress. Wins add rank points, and the May 27 patch notes added extra points for beating stronger opponents.
  4. Earn Arena Talents as you go. Game8 says every 1v1 match gives Arena EXP, win or lose, and enough of it unlocks talent points.
  5. Pick a strong pair of weapons. Our PvP Tier List compares two current lists, OnKamii's and Game8's, for all ten martial paths.
  6. Practice with friends. Training Terrace hosts custom sparring rooms. Game8 also describes Spar, a consensual 1v1 you can start with another player in Online Mode, which does not affect your rank.

The seven Arena modes

Arena Practice

A practice mode for core skills such as blocking, breaking defenses and handling golden skills, added in the official notes of January 12, 2026.

1v1 Arena

The ranked duel. Open 24 hours a day (April 30 update overview). Beating a stronger opponent gives extra points (May 27 patch notes). In one match we saw in a player's video, a win took a Mythic player from 710 to 713 points; that is a single match, not a rule. The official posts don't say how many rounds a match has.

3v3 Arena

Team fights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 15:00 to 02:00 the next day, battlegroup local time (April 30 update overview). Since the May 27 patch, a team can field at most two players with the same martial art. In matches with no healer, players get one chance to revive a fallen teammate (within 10 meters, during the 15 seconds after the fall); in matches with healers, the Panacea Fan's Resurrection works only once, though Royal Remedy's Tier 6 effect is not affected. Game8 adds that 3v3 balances attributes, turns off food and scrolls, allows only one healer and unlocks the season's general Arena Talents for everyone.

Perception Forest

A survival battle mode. The May 27 patch notes mention a Duel Arena inside it, a weekly cap on Sin Leaf and faster rank gains for Solo and Duo matches at Mythic and above. Game8 describes it as a battle royale for up to 50 players: you start empty-handed, pick up gear and stay inside a shrinking poison zone, in Solo, Duo (25 teams of two) or Flex (10 teams of five) queues.

Group Strategy

A ranked team mode, open every day from 12:00 until 02:00 the following day (April 30 update overview). Game8 says teams of three, four or five share one rank score, matches are best of three across 2v2, team-fight and 1v1 rounds, and the mode unlocks at level 39 after the Qinghe main quest Another New Wing.

Transdust Ruins

An extraction mode made with Escape from Tarkov. The official Version 2.2 overview (September 15, 2026) says it opened on September 23, 2026 at 06:00, that you need level 20 and the exploration quest Sands of Perils, and that it comes in Solo, Trio, AI Solo and AI Trio versions. Matches earn Rank Points, and reaching Mythic IV unlocks the title Devoted Heart.

Training Terrace

Custom rooms for sparring with friends, added with the April 30, 2026 update and found under Wandering Paths > Arena > Training Terrace.

Season, battlegroups and ranks

The current season

  • Dates: the official posts disagree. The Version 2.0 overview (July 22, 2026) gave the first half of S4 an end date of November 7, 2026. The Version 2.1 overview (August 19, 2026) then started S4: Forge Ahead II on September 3, 2026 at 05:00, running to October 15, 2026 at 04:59:59, and the Season-End Dash event below also ends on October 15. We have not found an official note explaining the change. In the game, a Multi-Region server shows September 3 to October 15, and a Europe server shows September 2 to October 14.
  • Season-End Dash: Arena. From October 8, 2026 at 05:00 to October 15 at 04:59:59, players at level 20 or above can complete daily and weekly tasks for Arena Talent EXP, Arena Attunement Stone: Mirage and Inner Way Note: Random Chests. Weekly tasks reset on Mondays at 5:00 (official September 29 overview).
  • Season changes. Matchmaking pauses from 2 hours before to 1 hour after a season or half-season change (April 30 update overview).
  • Next season: Season 5: Ever Aflame. The official X account announced it on October 8, 2026 (Pacific time), saying it launches at the same time as the new level caps: Solo Mode up to level 18 and gear up to level 100. The post gives no date. It came in the run-up to the Qingzhou update of October 15, the day the Version 2.1 overview ends S4.

Battlegroups

Since April 30, 2026, the Arena splits servers into regional battlegroups that share a matchmaking pool and a leaderboard: Yougu (US East and West), Yunya (Europe), Canglang (Asia and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and Jiangzhu (Southeast Asia), with Linhe (US West) added later in the same announcement. Your first battlegroup switch in each half-season is free and the second costs 100 Echo Jade, with later switches costing more. A switch clears your current rank points but keeps rank rewards you have already claimed, and each battlegroup settles its season on its own.

Ranks

  • Mythic is the top rank. Official posts name only Mythic and, for Transdust Ruins, Mythic IV. Matchmaking at Mythic weighs players' scores, so queues there can take longer (April 30 update overview; Game8).
  • The lower ranks have no official list. Game8's Perception Forest table (February 2026) names Beginner, Novice, Adept, Expert, Veteran, Master, Legend and Mythic.
  • The scores don't line up. Mythic players in recent videos show 692 to 719 points on a Multi-Region server and up to 2,146 on a Europe leaderboard, while Game8 puts Mythic I at 3,200 and the th.gl database speaks of 3,000. Until the game shows a full table, we don't list rank scores.

Arena Talents

Arena Talents are a separate progression tree for PvP. According to Game8, 1v1 matches give Arena EXP whether you win or lose, enough EXP turns into talent points, 3v3 unlocks the season's general talents for you, and talents don't apply in Perception Forest. The official Season-End Dash event also rewards Arena Talent EXP.

Guild War

  • When: Saturdays and Sundays at 20:30, in your battlegroup's time zone (April 30 update overview).
  • League entry: a guild needs 30,000 Guild Prosperity or one win in Guild War - Ranked Match to enter the league (official Version 2.0 overview, July 22, 2026).
  • New in 2.2: personal and guild season statistics (official Version 2.2 patch notes, September 15, 2026).
  • Objectives: Game8 names three: break the Bulwark, take down the other side's Goose, and bring their Fortune Tree back through your own gate. Whether you can join a match depends on your guild's registration, league standing and roster.

Open-world PvP and Spar

The sources disagree here. Game8's PvP guide (September 18, 2026) says Online Mode doesn't open you up to free-for-all fights in the open world; duels there are Spars that both players agree to. An older guide from BlueStacks (December 2025) describes turning on a PvP flag for open-world fights. We have not found an official statement either way.

Arena changes since July 2026

The official Version 2.0 patch of July 23, 2026 changed many Arena rules; Versions 2.1 and 2.2 made no Arena balance changes. The ones that affect every weapon:

  • Sprinting without dodging first now adds a short delay before dash skills, and melee dash skills are faster.
  • Consecutive deflections against fast multi-hit attacks trigger more reliably.
  • A new server check sides with the defender: if they were in a dodge's invulnerability when a high-latency attacker's hit landed, the damage is negated.
  • Serene Breeze now grants brief Super Armor, and Talon Strike and Yaksha Rush can break the guard of a defending target with Tenacity.

Every weapon's Arena changes: PvP Tier List, Arena changes since July 2026.

Version history

  • October 11, 2026: added Season 5: Ever Aflame, which the official X account announced on October 8.
  • October 7, 2026: rewritten for Version 2.2. The page now covers the seven current Arena modes, the S4 season, battlegroups, ranks, Arena Talents and Guild War from official announcements and named guide sites. It drops older claims we could not source, such as a 30v30 faction war, an unlock table for every mode and a match-by-match practice plan.
  • November 25, 2025: first published.
