This Where Winds Meet Mo Blade build guide covers the Thundercry Blade paired with the Stormbreaker Spear: the Stonesplit - Might martial path, a tank that blocks attacks and turns those openings into charged attacks. Players also use the name Mo Blade for the Phalanxbane Blade in Stonesplit - Strength, which NPC Waifu calls the Mo Blade style. For that path, see our Stonesplit - Strength build guide.

This page compares the builds published for Stonesplit - Might and shows where they disagree. We have not tested these setups in the game ourselves; each source is named with its date.

Last checked: October 8, 2026. The most recent balance changes to this path came with Version 2.0 on July 23, 2026, followed by an August 2 fix to its Arena attunement on the disc; the Version 2.1 and 2.2 patch notes do not mention it. After 2.2 we found one player's dummy tests (Xia, September 18) and one build listed in a video description (A R Y A, October 4), but no screen showing this path's Inner Ways, stats, Mystic Arts or gear.

How the two weapons work together

The guides describe the same rhythm:

  1. Stormbreaker Spear: open. Storm Roar draws enemies' attention and reduces the damage you take, and Thunder Shock makes the target Vulnerable.
  2. Thundercry Blade: shield up. Predator's Shield gives you a shield and Fighting Spirit, the pair's shared resource (also called Battle Will).
  3. Block, then hit back. Block an attack you can guard. With Exquisite Scenery, a successful block lets you trigger Defensive Riposte, an instant third-stage charged heavy attack (Game8 calls it Divine Counter). Then spend your charged attacks, such as Avalanche, while the target is Vulnerable.

Winds Meet Guide warns against guarding nonstop: holding block drains Endurance and does not stop unblockable mechanics, so block one readable hit, then move. The Where Winds Meet Handbook adds that a shield does not replace handling boss mechanics.

The charged attacks carry the damage in Xia's dummy tests after Version 2.2 (September 18, Sword Trial Boss at level 96). Across four 60-second runs Xia dealt between 3,844K and 4,332K, about 64,000 to 72,000 per second. In the first run, Avalanche dealt 62.1% of the damage, Stonebreaker Cleave 22.8% and Stonebreaker Quake 9.8%.

Game8 gives it S for PvE; its list rates how well a path does its whole job, including support, survivability and group play. NPC Waifu, whose list rates damage in real boss fights, gives it B: he calls it a tank whose damage depends on precisely timed blocks to trigger its charged attacks, so it struggles to reach high numbers, though he notes it can pull groups of enemies together in Guild War. In PvP, OnKamii says its Super Armor and Tenacity make it very hard to break open, but opponents can back off and wear it down. Every path side by side: Build Tier List and PvP Tier List.

Inner Ways

You equip four Inner Ways. This is what each build uses:

  • Only Morale Chant and Exquisite Scenery appear in all four. Game8 added Throat-Piercing Art in June, after Varied Combo improved, and dropped Art of Resistance as a main pick even though it had been buffed. It now uses Art of Resistance only as a snapshot: equipped before casting Predator's Shield, then swapped out. Winds Meet Guide keeps Art of Resistance for group play because it extends your shield, and swaps in Battle Anthem when you play solo.
  • Other options from Game8: Breaking Point for speedruns. For PvP, Vital Leech in place of Adaptive Steel, or Trapped Beast for a shield when your HP drops low.
  • Exquisite Scenery changed on July 23 (Version 2.0). Its Cadence lasts 20 seconds instead of 15 and stacks up to 2 times instead of 1; the official notes say this makes Special Defensive Riposte easier to trigger. Game8's Inner Way descriptions already show the new values.
  • Winds Meet Guide was checked on July 19, before the Version 2.0 changes, and the MetaBattle page was last edited in December 2025. A R Y A's list comes from a video description, not an in-game screen.

Stats

Priorities. The sources rank stats differently:

  • Game8 (September 3): Precision Rate to 100% first: charged attacks can't Abrade, but the damage comes from critical hits. Then Critical Rate, which Game8 says only needs 56% on your stat sheet because the build's talents push it to the effective cap. Then Affinity Rate: about 15.4% for everyday play, or around 11.3% with Breaking Point, and not far over, since too much Affinity eats into your critical hits. After that: Charge Damage Boost, Max and Min Physical Attack, then Boss, All Martial Arts and Thundercry Blade damage boosts.
  • Winds Meet Guide (July 19): Min-Max Stonesplit Attack, Max HP, Body, Min-Max Physical Attack and Critical Rate. It stresses that Max HP is not only for survival: the Thundercry Blade turns it into charged-attack damage.
  • MetaBattle (December 2025): Power first, then Affinity Rate, Stonesplit Attack, Max and Min Physical Attack, Critical Rate, Physical Penetration and weapon or skill damage boosts. MetaBattle notes that its gear section is still being worked on.

So each guide site puts a different stat first: Precision (Game8), Stonesplit Attack (Winds Meet Guide) or Power (MetaBattle).

Check Game8's 56% against your own stat sheet. Game8's changelog dates its stat priority to June 10, 2026. On July 23, Version 2.0 changed the Thundercry Blade talent Critical Rate UP to give Max Physical Attack instead of Critical Rate (it is now called Physical Attack UP); the official notes say this stops players going over the effective Critical Rate cap. Game8 does not say which talents it counted, so we can't tell whether the 56% still holds. The same patch made the cap on Max HP converted into Max Physical Attack scale with your Breakthrough level instead of stopping at 120 points, which bears on Winds Meet Guide's Max HP advice.

Where the damage comes from. In Xia's second dummy run after Version 2.2, 86% of the damage came from critical hits, 12% from Affinity hits and 2% from normal hits.

Attunements. Game8's PvE picks: Physical or Formless Penetration on both weapons, the disc and the pendant, and Thundercry Blade Charged Skill DMG Boost on each armor piece. Overall, it puts Charge Damage Boost first, then Thundercry Blade damage bonuses and Physical Penetration.

Gear sets

MetaBattle (December 2025)RainwhisperFormbend, with Moonflare until you have it
A R Y A (October 4 video description)RainwhisperFormbend
  • Rainwhisper is the one weapon set everyone uses. Game8 explains that it adds Critical Damage, and more while you have a shield, which suits a build whose damage comes from charged critical hits.
  • Armor is the split. Game8 recommends Formbend because its shield effects fit the build's defensive tools. Winds Meet Guide prefers Flawless Defense for steady damage reduction and turns to Formbend when the shield runs out too soon. For PvP, Game8 suggests Calmwaters if you trust your dodge timing.
  • We have not seen these sets on an in-game screen for this path.

Mystic Arts

  • Game8 (September 3): for PvE, Dragon's Breath and Drunken Poet for burst damage, Cloud Steps to close the gap, and Golden Body for an extra shield, with Guardian Palm as a swap that pulls enemies together with the Thundercry Blade's Sunrush Gale. For PvP: Serene Breeze, which it calls mandatory, Wolflike Frenzy, Free Morph and Soaring Spin. In February it dropped Ghost Bind from its main loop as no longer worth it.
  • MetaBattle (December 2025): its icon list shows Talon Strike, Soaring Spin, Golden Body, Free Morph, Ghost Bind, Blinding Mist, Wolflike Frenzy and Yaksha Rush. Its text uses Ghost Bind to gather enemies for Galecloud Cleave; Wolflike Frenzy, Free Morph, Soaring Spin and Yaksha Rush for single targets; Golden Body as a second shield next to Predator's Shield; and Blinding Mist to control a group before finishing it with Touch of Death.
  • Winds Meet Guide does not list Mystic Arts for this build.

Neither video from after 2.2 shows the Mystic Arts screen.

Official changes since July 2026

The Version 2.0 patch notes (first posted on Steam on July 22, 2026; these changes are in the July 23 section) changed this path in three ways:

  • Charge Calculation Enhancement (Thundercry Blade talent): the cap on Max HP converted into Max Physical Attack during skill resolution now scales with your Martial Arts Breakthrough level instead of stopping at a fixed 120 points.
  • Critical Rate UP (Thundercry Blade talent): the attribute it adds, based on the higher of your Body and Power, is now Max Physical Attack instead of Critical Rate, and the talent is renamed Physical Attack UP. The official notes say this stops players going over the effective Critical Rate cap.
  • Exquisite Scenery: Cadence lasts 20 seconds instead of 15 and stacks up to 2 times instead of 1, making Special Defensive Riposte easier to trigger.

Under Arena changes, the same patch:

  • improved the pull of the Thundercry Blade's Avalanche Landslide, and made charging Avalanche and Galecloud Cleave cost more Endurance;
  • greatly improved Stonebreaker's pull, and fixed Stonebreaker knocking down opponents who deflected it;
  • made Heavy Attack go straight to the stage 3 strike while Drumbeat or Breakthrough is active, and raised stage 3's damage;
  • made Sunrush Gale slow the nearest target every 0.5 seconds while you cast it, with a short burst of speed for you afterwards;
  • made the Drumbeat and damage reduction from the Stormbreaker Spear's Storm Roar require the Thundercry Blade to be equipped, and moved its hit slightly earlier to match the animation;
  • reduced the Battle Will the Stormbreaker Spear recovers from a successful defense when the Thundercry Blade is not equipped;
  • let you chain other skills right after the disc's Stonesplit - Might Arena attunement triggers on Predator's Shield.

The same patch notes' August 2, 2026 section fixed the Stonesplit - Might affix in the disc's Arena attunements, which had not been triggering: it gives you Drumbeat and 2 seconds of Super Armor when the slam of Thunder Shock hits or controls a target. That section also updated Storm Roar's description to say its Drumbeat and damage reduction only apply with the Thundercry Blade equipped, a text-only change.

The Version 2.1 patch notes (first posted August 20, 2026) and Version 2.2 patch notes (September 15, 2026) do not mention this path.
