Where Winds Meet mounts start with one free horse from the story. Follow the main quests to the General's Shrine, beat the horse thief you meet there, and you have your first horse. After that, the sixteen colored horses cost nothing: you tame one in the wild or take one from a rider. Five more are sold in the Shop for 60 to 1,280 Echo Beads, and a few come from the Draw Shop.
Two mounts have a deadline right now. Eastwind Soarer arrived with Version 2.3 on October 15 and is listed until December 13. Deer-parture, a white deer, enters the Draw Shop on October 25.
Last checked: October 20, 2026. We read the official patch notes, the 2.3 appearance overview and the official X post, and compared them with the Fextralife wiki and several guide sites. Every row in the checklist comes from an official notice or from two sources that agree; five names come from a guide site's mount list that we spot-checked. What only one source says is under Player reports. Most of the guide pages date from November 2025 to August 2026, and we found nothing in the later patch notes that changes how you get a horse.

How to get your first mount
Your first horse is part of the story. Two guide sites send you along the main quests to the General's Shrine, where a horse thief crosses your path. Beat him and the horse is yours.
To call your horse, press 6 on a keyboard or Touchpad + Square on PS5. Both guide sites give the same keys.
Free mounts: taming and snatching horses
All sixteen colored horses (Hua, Chibiao, Chibo, Chizhui, Xing, Jinbiao, Jinbo, Jinzhui, Cong, Qingbiao, Qingbo, Qingzhui, Wubiao, Wubo, Wuzhui and Li) are free, and there are two ways to get them:
- Taming: wild horses can be caught and tamed on horse ranches; the Fextralife wiki and a guide site agree.
- Snatching: you can take a horse from a rider. The Fextralife wiki files the colored horses under normal play such as horse theft, and two guide sites list them as captured or snatched.
Shop and Draw Shop mounts
Two guide sites, one updated on October 19, 2026 and one in November 2025, give the same Shop prices in Echo Beads:
| Mount | Shop price |
|---|---|
| Snow Oath | 60 Echo Beads |
| White-browed Goose | 680 Echo Beads |
| Horskie | 680 Echo Beads |
| Spirited Courser | 1,280 Echo Beads |
| Qin Horse | 1,280 Echo Beads |
Prices can change, so check the in-game Shop before you buy.
From the Draw Shop:
- Ghoststride, also written Ghostride. The official Version 1.2 overview (January 9, 2026) said it would stay in the Draw Shop until May 14, 2026.
- Deer-parture, from October 25 (see below).
Limited-time mounts in Version 2.3
- Eastwind Soarer. The official 2.3 appearance overview of October 15 lists it as a new mount, exclusive to the Qingzhou region, available until December 13, 2026 at 04:59:59. The notice gives no time zone for this item, although other items in it use UTC+8, and it does not say where the mount is sold. For the region itself, see the Qingzhou guide.
- Deer-parture. The official X post of October 19 puts this white deer in the Draw Shop from October 25, 2026 at 0:00 to April 23, 2027 at 4:59:59 (UTC+8). It gives no price or draw rates. The rest of the 2.3 news is in our 2.3 patch notes.
Mount Sack, Mount Prowess and Divine Steed levels
Three official changes made the mounts you own matter beyond riding:
- Mount Sack (Version 2.3, October 15, 2026). Your mount now carries a portable store that works like the Warehouse. Mount Prowess tiers decide how many slots it has. From 6,000 Prowess, every further 1,000 adds 6 slots, and owning a Legendary Mount adds 12. The sack sits in Warehouse tab 1 at first, and you can move it to another tab.
- Spirit Gift skills (May 27, 2026). A Horse Gallop Tactic raises how many Spirit Gift skills a mount can equip, and lets you equip those of other mounts you own. The first two were Spirit Gift - Gather and Spirit Gift - Seek. Horse Gallop Tactics come from the Shop or from Divine Steed level rewards.
- Divine Steed levels (May 27, 2026). Your level depends on the total Elegance Score of the mounts you own. Rewards include Horse Gallop Tactics, mount emote packs and chat bubbles.
The 2.3 notes speak of Mount Prowess and the May notes of Elegance Score. We have not confirmed whether they are the same number.
Player reports, not yet verified
Each of these comes from one source only, so the checklist leaves it out or marks it as not confirmed:
- The story horse's name: one guide site calls the horse from the General's Shrine Clip-Clop!.
- An earlier horse: one guide site says you can steal one from the first rider you meet, and that stealing several can bring a bounty or people chasing you.
- Taming route: one guide site says to pick Horse Capture in the exploration rewards list and follow the map marker. The Fextralife wiki names the Stallion Ranches.
- Veilstride: one guide site calls it an event reward, from the 15 Million Wanderers milestone.
- Mirage Boat: one guide site links it to an event; another says it is exchanged for 170 Diagrams.
- Baaing Rambler and Veridian Envoy: one guide site lists Baaing Rambler in the Shop at 1,280 Echo Beads and Veridian Envoy from the Nature's Echo draw or for 2 Harmonic Core in the Echo Shop, both from Version 2.0.
