Where Winds Meet Nameless Sword Build

Where Winds Meet Nameless Sword build for Version 2.2: the Inner Ways the builds share, the Sword Morph loop, stats, gear sets and tier list ratings.

Nameless Sword builds in Where Winds Meet pair the Nameless Sword with the Nameless Spear: the Bellstrike - Splendor martial path. This page compares the builds published for it and shows where they disagree. We have not tested these setups in the game ourselves; each source is named with its date.

Last checked: October 10, 2026. The most recent balance changes to this path came with Version 2.0 on July 23, 2026. Version 2.1 made no balance changes to it, and Version 2.2 only corrected a skill description. We have no player video from after 2.2 that shows this pair's stats or gear, so everything below comes from guide sites, tier lists and the official patch notes.

How the two weapons work together

Game8 (September 3) and Winds Meet Guide (July 13) describe the same loop:

  1. Nameless Spear: set up. Qiankun's Lock puts Qi Imbalance on a boss, which makes it take more Qi damage and turns on several of this path's bonuses. Game8 adds that Qiankun's Lock gives you Endless Gale, which lowers your Endurance costs.
  2. Nameless Sword: get a Qi shield. Daunting Strike gives you one (Game8, MetaBattle).
  3. Nameless Sword: release. With Sword Morph equipped and the shield up, charge Vagrant Sword to its second stage to release several sword energies at once.
  4. Repeat. Shadow Step away, then start the next charge within five seconds to release them again.
  5. Cash in on an Exhausted boss. Winds Meet Guide switches to the spear's Storm Dance or stays on the sword if the boss keeps moving. Game8 uses Storm Dance when it is safe, but says the best rotations return to the sword quickly.

Two official changes back this loop up. Since June 25, 2026, a target that becomes Exhausted while under the spear's Qi Imbalance takes 8% more HP damage and another 8% more Bellstrike damage. And since July 23, sword energy no longer loses damage when it hits several non-player enemies at once, which made the sword much better at clearing groups.

Winds Meet Guide adds a note from the original 2025 Chinese guide it drew on: sword and spear is the damage route for coordinated group content, while sword and fan was the suggestion for solo play or random groups.

Where the Nameless Sword ranks in Version 2.2

Tier listPublishedWhat it ratesBellstrike - Splendor
NPC WaifuSeptember 19, 2026Damage in real boss fightsA
Game8September 3, 2026 (Version 2.1)PvES
Game8September 3, 2026 (Version 2.1)PvPS
OnKamiiSeptember 19, 2026 (Version 2.2, global server)High-rank 1v1 ArenaT1 (up from T2)

NPC Waifu says the newer gauntlet and Heng Blade paths have pushed this path's damage down near the bottom. He still rates it A because it attacks from long range, its combos are simple, it stays reliable when the boss moves and it does not depend on a good connection. OnKamii moved it up to T1. He notes that the chest armor's damage reduction now also works while you are controlled, so the immobilize-into-Soaring-Spin combo hits for less. He names the Heavenwill Gauntlets and the dual blades as its counters, and says the path needs you to fight up close and deflect well.

Mixing weapons changes the picture. For OnKamii, the Infernal Twinblades with the Nameless Sword are T0, and he calls the Nameless Spear with the Heavenwill Gauntlets the strongest pair of the version. The Nameless Sword with either Bellstrike - Umbra weapon (Strategic Sword or Heavenquaker Spear) is T2 for OnKamii and A for Game8. Every path side by side: Build Tier List and PvP Tier List.

Inner Ways

You equip four Inner Ways. This is what each build uses:

Sword MorphMain pick, upgrade firstMain pick, upgrade firstMain pickMain pick

Mountain's MightMain pick, now core for PvESwap-in when Endurance runs outMain pickMain pick
Adaptive SteelNot listedStandard fourth slotNot listedNot listed
Wildfire SparkNot listedNot listedNot listedMain pick
  • Sword Morph is what the build is about. It turns a Vagrant Sword charged to its second stage into a volley of sword energies. Game8 and Winds Meet Guide both say that charging past the second stage no longer drains more Endurance; Winds Meet Guide dates that change to Version 1.7 (May 28, 2026).
  • The fourth slot is the main disagreement. Game8 and MetaBattle use Mountain's Might, and Game8 upgrades it second, after Sword Morph. Winds Meet Guide uses Adaptive Steel and only brings in Mountain's Might when Endurance keeps breaking the rotation.
  • Late-game option from Game8: Insightful Strike at Tier 5 or higher instead of Morale Chant, for a build stacked with Affinity.
  • For 1v1 PvP, Game8 uses Sword Morph, Morale Chant, Fury Harvest (more Vitality for Mystic Skills) and Evasive Charge (a chance to get Endurance back after a Perfect Dodge). More PvP advice is in our Bellstrike - Splendor PvP build.
  • Winds Meet Guide was checked before the Version 2.0 balance patch, and the MetaBattle and Dexerto pages date from 2025, so treat their details as older than Game8's.

Stats

The sources rank stats differently:

  • Game8 (September 3): Affinity Rate up to its 40% cap and no further, then Max Physical Attack, Power, Momentum, and Precision and Critical Rate. Game8 says about 85% Precision is enough for an Affinity build, because Affinity does not depend on Precision.
  • Winds Meet Guide (July 13): Affinity Rate, Momentum, Max Physical Attack, Max Bellstrike Attack, then Critical Rate.
  • MetaBattle (December 2025): Power first, then Affinity Rate, Bellstrike Attack, Max and Min Physical Attack, Critical Rate, Physical Penetration and weapon or skill damage boosts. MetaBattle notes that its gear section is still being worked on.

So Affinity Rate comes first for Game8 and Winds Meet Guide and second for MetaBattle, and all three rank Max Physical Attack highly.

Attunements. Game8's PvE picks: Physical or Formless Penetration on both weapons, the disc and the pendant, and Nameless Sword Charged Skill DMG Boost on each armor piece, since Vagrant Sword carries the build's damage.

  • Hawkwing and Formbend are the sets more than one guide uses. Game8 prefers Jadeware for a fully optimized PvE build. It says Jadeware lasts longer since Version 1.7 and now also triggers against a boss under Qi Imbalance, which this path applies in its normal rotation.
  • Formbend suits the Qi shield. Game8 and Winds Meet Guide both explain that it extends your shield and cuts damage while the shield is up, which protects you while you charge Vagrant Sword.
  • For 1v1 PvP, Game8 switches the armor to Calmwaters, which can restore HP and Endurance after a Perfect Dodge.

Mystic Arts

  • Game8 (September 3): for PvE, Flute of the Tides as the opener, Dragon's Breath and Drunken Poet as the main damage pair, Dragon Head as filler when your Endurance is low, and Soaring Spin to get back into range. For PvP: Serene Breeze, Talon Strike and Cloud Steps, plus Dragon's Breath, Drunken Poet and Soaring Spin.
  • Winds Meet Guide (July 13): Flute of the Tides during the weapon loop, Soaring Spin to close the gap again, and Dragon's Breath followed by Drunken Poet whenever the boss leaves an opening.
  • MetaBattle (December 2025): its icon list shows Talon Strike, Soaring Spin, Flaming Meteor, Free Morph, Ghost Bind, Dragon's Breath, Wolflike Frenzy and Drunken Poet. Its text explains Ghost Bind for groups and Wolflike Frenzy for single targets.
  • Dexerto (November 2025): Ghostly Steps, Dragon's Breath and Wolflike Frenzy.

Dragon's Breath is in all four, and Drunken Poet and Soaring Spin are in three. Version 2.0 gave Dragon's Breath its Dark Scorch branch and made Drunken Poet's Tier 3 explosion stronger on a target with your own Dark Scorch.

Official changes since July 2026

The Version 2.0 patch notes (first posted on Steam on July 22, 2026; these changes are in the July 23 section) changed this path in two ways:

  • Smoother chaining: Vagrant Sword, Daunting Strike and Relentless Chase now chain much more smoothly under high latency in Online Mode boss fights and on the boss dummy.
  • No damage falloff: a single sword energy that hits several non-player enemies no longer loses damage, which the notes say makes the sword much stronger at clearing groups.

In the Arena, the same patch changed Shadow Step: its second dash deals no damage while it starts up, but tracks the target better and can be interrupted earlier.

Version 2.1 made no balance changes to this path. The Version 2.2 patch notes (September 15, 2026) only corrected the description of the Nameless Sword's Sword Energy damage bonus. The new text reads: each stack of Sword Energy increases damage against non-player units by 10%, with no need to enter the Exhausted state. The notes say the effect itself was already working that way.

Before that, the Version 1.8 patch notes of June 25, 2026 changed the spear's Qi Imbalance: if the target becomes Exhausted while it lasts, it takes 8% more HP damage and another 8% more Bellstrike damage.
